Thomas G. Bognanno, President and CEO
Thomas G. Bognanno has been the President and CEO of Community Health Charities since January 2006. Prior to that, Tom had a distinguished 20-year career with the American Diabetes Association (ADA), as Executive Director for the former ADA New Mexico and Missouri affiliates and Executive Vice President for the Texas affiliate. He was promoted to Special Assistant to the CEO in 1998 before becoming Chief Field Officer in 2003. Prior to ADA, he spent six years with the American Cancer Society.
Tom was instrumental in revitalizing the community-level infrastructure of ADA and prioritizing volunteer and staff development. He was also one of the chief architects of the Everyday Choices for a Healthier Life partnership between the ADA, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society.
At Community Health Charities, Tom has been a catalyst for creating a new direction and evolving into a full-service organization focused on employee engagement, workplace giving campaigns, health resources, causes, and strategic partnerships. Tom also provided the leadership and vision that resulted in the consolidation of Community Health Charities into one entity with the merger of the 36 separate affiliate associations in 2014. Currently, he is leading the effort to re-design Community Health Charities’ strategic direction and accelerate income generated for our member charities.
Residing in northern Virginia, Tom and his wife, Suzan, have been married for more than 35 years and raised three children.
